The 45 rpm single was certified Gold by the RIAA on July 27, 1978 for 1 million copies sold. Written by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees, who also sang background vocals on the track, this was the theme song of the hugely successful Grease film. It gave Valli a second #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and in Canada in the 70s after his prior success with The Four Seasons in the 60s
