With a larger pot like this the base is allowed to firm and dry a bit to support the weight of the remaining coils- the process of building can stretch over two days

Marbled Vase with Turquoise Rim (3) chicago pottery This piece was constructed usingMade from a composite marbled clay it features a pure white porcelain, a contrasting rich Brooklyn red clay. The outside is left unglazed, show casing the poetic landscape of rivulets ebbing and flowing which emerges from the throwing process. These medium vases start with the same amount of clay, and must have a flared rim, but besides these guides, I explore different shapes within these restrictions each is truly unique.
