Mid 20th Century Handwoven Okimono Kago Style Japanese Basket (5) Box Nowadays it can be usedThis quaint basket originated in Japan within the mid 20th century. It was handwoven from bamboo using a traditional Japanese technique known as takeami. The style showcases an okimono kago design, which can be seen on the bottom where the 5 bamboo pieces meet, forming a star shape. This specific basket has some Japanese calligraphy on the side. Unfortunately we cannot translate it, but we assume its a label for what was stored inside or perhaps a
