The mapmakers own premises are identified within a red oval in the right hand part of the map. Abbas (1921 2000) was encouraged by his father and his teachers to draft maps from a remarkably young age: considered by many as the father of modern Persian cartography he established the SGDI [Sahab Geographic and Drafting Institute] in 1936
