Doelling The Valley City Quadrangle is located in east central Utah, about 20 miles north of Moab, Utah in the Paradox basin fold and fault belt of the Colorado Plateau. Bedrock formations exposed in the quadrangle are Early Jurassic to Late Cretaceous in age. In ascending order these include the Navajo Sandstone, Entrada Sandstone, Summerville Formation, Morrison Formation, Cedar Mountain Formation, Dakota Sandstone, and Mancos Shale.
