Cain, Cain Five Vintage:2007Lot 7. Mid, very shaded garnet. Complex nose (and Im two thirds of the way through the tasting and this is the first time Ive used the word complex). Delicate and distinctive. Brooding and bloody. Round and rich. Just a little bit sweet on the end but a very good effort.

Initially there is a trace of reduction present though aggressive swirling is able to liberate a strikingly elegant

serious and moderately austere finale

spice and mint add character to a wine that speaks to finesse more than pure power

Intense blackberry

with freshness but no greenness

This is a lighter wine for the appellation but there is plenty of character and it’s focused like a laser

2013 and 2012 vintages

Moderate reduction dominates the nose at present

the 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo is magnificent
