On the mandrel it shows it being just a bit bigger than a size 8 but the way the bottom shank of the ring is squared off it leaves a bit of extra room fitting at 8

The reason being is that first time I asked him about it 3 years ago he told me the family significance of it being his fathers and then was passed down to him
