Pitot Tube Type D-1, USN 88-T-2998 US Coast GuardThis is a WWII era Pitot Tube, Type D 1 (also AN5816 2), as used by aircraft of the US Army Air Force and US Navy, such as bombers B 24 Liberator, B 25 Mitchell, B 26 Marauder, and A 26 Invader, fighters P 39 Airacobra, P 40 Warhawk, and P 47 Thunderbolt, dive bomber SBD Dauntless, and torpedo bomber TBM Avenger (see illustration from the TBM Erection and Maintenance Manual dated 1944). On most bombers, this pitot tube would be mounted on a stanchion
